The Opal yarn I used for the cuff of these scrappy pirate socks has nice colors, but what pattern it has isn’t very visible.

For my latest pirate socks, I decided to use this Opal sock yarn (top) to its best advantage with helical knitting. The Zitron Trekking Pro Natura yarn (bottom) picks up the red on the Opal colorway nicely.

The cuffs of my latest pair of scrappy pirate socks are knit in 1x1 ribbing from a deep blue marled, tonal colorway of Zitron Trekking XXL sock yarn. This ribbing takes longer to knit than more common 2x2 ribbing, but I think it suits the yarn better.

After I rework my too-long scrappy Musselburgh hat, I'll continue knitting this pair of scrappy pirate socks from odds and ends of mostly red and brown yarn. The cuffs are already finished.

The first possibility for another Musselburgh hat is this cowl that's been in progress for too long. It's three strands of Lang Jawoll, two olive green and one black, in helical knitting. I need something bright to knit with the black at one end. I don't want both ends of the hat to be the same.

My second option for a Musselburgh hat is this yellow-gold to fiery-red gradient of Ogle Design Fiber Arts Coloration. I'd finish one crown in yellow and the other in red. I need an intense color for the brim.

My third thought for another Musselburgh hat are these six speckled and variegated mini skeins from Woolen Boon. I used a little of them in my scrappy Musselburgh, but I think this is enough for another entire hat. This is actually the only needle-ready possibility of the three in this post.

Swatched, calculated, measured, compared, and my scrappy #MusselburghHat is 6 in too long. 🤦‍♂️ I'll go back, knit the crown decreases again, and take photos, just not today.
