Hope to meet you in few days at fosdem.org/2026/schedul...
Talk about #plutosdr clones and firmware.
Photo of two Narda RF couplers, one larger and one smaller, both with red plastic connector covers. The larger coupler covers 0.5 to 2 GHz and the smaller coupler covers 1 to 3.5 GHz. Both provide 20 dB loss on the coupled port. These are useful for return loss measurements in RF systems measurements.
Getting the lab organized a-bit more: Printed out a data sheet for a pair of Narda RF couplers. Have both couplers back in the same storage package again. What is the RF Geek equivalent of the old hammer-nail saying?
When all you have are RF couplers […]

This #plutoSDR clone is working very well. Ethernet and SD card, you can run a whole embedded system. Maybe cheaper on other stores.

Okay...@coastal8049 noted yesterday that there was something confusing in my (visual) capture of carrier of a HEO satellite signal. #plutosdr is my chosen SDR device. (CC: @robinlgetz)
Please read this as a thread form. Tweet 1/n
Is there any means demodulate any bits out of this? Of course the data is heavily encrypted, but certainly it is talking something here? ;-) The RF path is DIY 3.5 turn helix, eBay sourced bandpass filter, #plutosdr and #GQRX
Some s-band satellite Easter Egg speculation, part XIV! 😃 Earlier I ran a sanity test on #GQRX, capturing around 16 MHZ wide from #plutosdr for ten hours. There was some known signals, but also something around 2248 MHZ...
Receiver station at my new home is online! Two electrical enclosures: one for IT (Mini PC, RasPi and network switch), one for radios (2 RTL's (@rtlsdrblog and @Nooelec) and #plutosdr). IKEA 365+ food container is radome for S-band helix. L-band patch has now good view to south
Some lunar goodies for start of the 2020: LRO on lunar orbit! Strong carrier (2271.200 MHz) did match with the orbiter visibility according to @LRO_NASA project website. DIY S-band helix pointing the Moon, @Nooelec LNA and #plutosdr. #strf software package for data collection.
WOOHOO!! I received a freakin' LUNAR RECONNAISSANCE ORBITER!!! A Doppler shift, frequency jump, Loss-of-signal...everything's there!!! LRO website confirms the timeline. Pretty effin' good for DIY helix, @Nooelec LNA and #plutosdr!! Waterfall from #GQRX
I am very, very pleased with my setup! #plutosdr and @Nooelec LNA received the signal from BEHIND the building!
#Cartosat3 very low on eastern horizon an hour ago. Faintest whisper on my DIY helix antenna, #plutosdr and @Nooelec LNA. I'm very happy with my build! Next pass in 20 minutes! @coastal8049 @cgbassa
#plutosdr + #gnuradio, part 2. Thanks to @cgbassa's friendly advise, I was able to get aforementioned pair to work. FYI, pluto source in GR gives out samples in complex floating point and #STRF must set accordingly (rffft -i fifo.file -F float)
@coastal8049 @robinlgetz @ea4gpz
For the record: the #plutosdr frequency accuracy IS "bang-on" (old Finnish measurement unit from early 15th century) 😀 Not complaints about that! I'm very happy with it, and so much more to learn! @robinlgetz @coastal8049 @cgbassa
Further testing with #plutosdr and #STRF (https://github.com/cbassa/strf Many SARSAT's on 1544.5 MHz. Captured with #plutosdr -> #gnuradio -> fifo -> rffft -> rfplot. For some reason it shows signals 330kHz below? I might have done mistake somewhere @robinlgetz @coastal8049 @cgbassa
