Cyrene to Ares, God of War

Would you love me more
if I returned my rage to
Thracian earth, became once
more the shy, sweet nymph
you courted for her safe
behaviour (and maybe
for her looks)? You say I’ve
changed, become a Fate,
perhaps the one with scissors,
and it’s true. But know I
only do what burning Gaza
now demands, deadhead the
rotten roses, cut them out
of time—politicians who lie,
the child killers, women rapers
and the genocidal pricks.
Maybe you should call me
Nemesis and have done.

There's a tradition of challenges by female deities and mythological characters to their lovers (or tormentors)—this is mine. Not much is known about the nymph Cyrene of Thrace/Ares’ relationship, which leaves a lovely big information void for me to write what I needed to.
