My favorite recent teacher hack is commenting on student work via voice memo
I use the Google Chrome extension Mote, which also autogenerates a transcript(!)
It makes a difference for Ss to hear your encouraging voice, to hear you speak to them by name

A2 I like a wireless mouse instead of a clicker for integrating slides. Then I can reset after a video or go to another tab easily.
Another “hack” bc I have a whiteboard w/ a projector instead of a smart board: I make a few slides w/a title only & then brainstorm w/ kids on the dry erase #PopUpChat

A3 #PopUpChat it's the week for introducing 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication in fourth grade math. I know most of them get it (eventually) but it's always a rough math week. We are doing the area/array model first. So, lots of positive thoughts please. Next to division, it's the hardest concept.

My students do similar. They make vision boards, 2-3 goals, 1 or more quote, 1 or more life principle, 1 or more person who will serve as their ingenious influencer and anything they want to personalize with. They write a letter outlining their plan to work their goal plan. Revisit mid yr #PopUpChat

A3: I'm hesitant about getting back into running. I fell a few weeks back during my long run and ended up in the ER. I'm set to run my first marathon in January, so I need to run, but I have a trauma reaction that didn't exist before. #PopUpChat

Another hack I always loved was using fabric for the back of my bulletin boards, I could use them for years, and made it so easy to put them up since they were already measured out. And cheap too! #PopUpChat

When a kid says "I don't get this," I ask them to be specific, about what they don't understand, even to the point of asking stupid questions, like, "Do this direction to read the story make sense?" When they side-eye me, I point out they "get" something. #PopUpChat

I’m in my last 5yrs teaching so I can start giving out my secrets. 😉
(i.e.) Randomly honor small groups of kids for: improved spelling scores, being helpful, volunteering, good behavior at recess, effort solving a math problem, etc… praise the effort, not the product.
