It was 2012, the height of awful documentaries such as The Scheme, Benefit Street etc... in no world should anyone be making entertainment from lives they perceive as "ruined". I'd like to think we've moved past this #PovertySafari, but we haven't really, have we?

I consider his second book (The Social Distance Between Us) to be an essential read for anyone who's interested in the modern British experience, and I'm expecting more of the same from this, his first work.

Not sure where I'm going next. Most likely #PovertySafari by Darren McGarvey or maybe I'll finally get around to reading #SevenWaysToChangeTheWorld by Gordon Brown (yes, that one).

Then after that....back to my #ASOIAF re-read.
