Fun story: this week I wrote the sermon based on Epiphany 4 Propers rather than Feast of the Presentation. So I actually wrote two sermons this week. If anyone needs a spare Epiphany 4 C sermon, let me know and I'll slide that bad boy over to you. #preachinglife #narthex

And “joy,” which is he really lays into in Advent 3C. I’ve preached whole sermons in Phil 4.4-7 and the theology of Joy. #rcl #preachinglife

I’m preaching tomorrow on the reading from Malachi. I want folks to dwell not in the now, when they know what’s coming in the next season, but in the time of the prophets, when they didn’t know what was next. #preachinglife

I was expecting some pushback from my sermon on Sunday, but I was not expecting it to trigger a negative response from … a member of my seminary field ed. lay committee from 9 years ago. She didn’t even listen to the whole sermon when provided the link. Read 2 paragraphs & chimed in. #preachinglife

For my Sunday sermon I’m trying to figure out how to remind folks that any temple they build will be torn down (per Mark 13) without making them feel like I’m pulling their temples down on them myself. Trying to figure out where the intersection of prophetic and pastoral can be found. #preachinglife
