I have a theory that dogfooding overemphasizes your internal experiences and complaints over the actual reality faced by your very complicated enterprise customers.
How do you balance the volume of internal demands and feedback with actual insights from the market?

Has anyone ever seen an open roadmap for a software product done well post-launch?
Tell me what "done well" looked like.

#productsky let's go.
I did a podcast!
The lovely people at Talking Roadmaps had me on to discuss product operations and how product organizations can work smoothly together. There's a lot here about working cultures and how to scale.
What a great conversation.

Your idea isn’t too simple. Your delivery is too complex. #designsky #productsky
PMs need to be storytellers.
PMs must be concise.
PMs need to lead with empathy for the customer.
PMs must work towards the P&L targets.
PMs need to help the teams focus on what's important.
PMs must expedite this request that meets this quarter's revenue.

You can spend 8 hours moving the needle 1%, or 90 minutes in deep work solving the real problem.
Instead of asking what I can get done today, I ask what creates the biggest impact with the least effort. #productsky #designsky
I'm hearing a lot of product managers talk about using LLMs to summarize user insights from social media comments and complaints.
Let's flip this around. Would you want your political representative to learn what society's issues are from such a summary?
What's missing in this context?

This article feels really out of touch given the current market. People are getting laid off, not leaving.

Also, the average tenure of a PM is 18-24 months. Invest in better product leaders and product ops if you want people to stay.

I came across this a couple of weeks ago. I'm still thinking about it.
Someone was describing their experience moving from Firefox to Chrome as "Firefox feels like a tool. Does what I need it to. It doesn't feel like a product. Like someone trying to sell me something." [paraphrased]

I'm launching reallyusable.com in the near future to help anyone to do better user research. Make sure you join the waitlist and possibly become a beta tester.

I’m looking for contacts at purpose-led or women-led scale ups. They’ve established PMF and need to figure out how to continue growing. Who should I connect with? #designsky #productsky
Been wanting to blow up bluesky with cool stuff people love to use. Figure I’d start posting one tool I’m really liking.
Zack Rabbit countersink
Click on bits for quick change between drilling. Magnet ring for holding screws and an Allen key all kept on a belt loop package.

Alternatively, maybe you’ve only experienced working in feature factories, which IMO, is a vast majority of the product world. “Requirements gathering” just reeks of feature factory.
There are good articles by John Cutler on how to learn product work in feature factories. Recommended.

2 Panel meme. First Panel, Winnie the Pooh is sitting on a blue-grey armchair and looks tired. The caption is visually dense and intense. "Product Managers need to know: Roadmaps, Strategy, Data, Stakeholders, User Interviews, Finance, Experimentation, Agile, AI/ML, Market Insights, GTM, Pricing, Growth, Impact, PRDs, Business Case, Storytelling, User Stories, Regulations..." Second Panel. Winnie looks suave and sophisticated, wearing a tuxedo with a bowtie on the same armchair. Caption: Good Product Management is more than individual skills.
I often explain my work as "helping product teams do product management better." In this field, there's often an intuitive sense of "we're doing things wrong", but "good" or "right" are rarely well-defined.

I have a ton of financial services experience and could easily specialize, but I really want to work in women’s health and mental health. I won’t turn down fintech projects because I do enjoy the space but it doesn’t feel like I’m helping people. #designsky #productsky
#buildinpublic Day 60 - Is there any data on whether data-driven decisions beat emotion driven ones?

My team is considering switching from ProductBoard to airfocus
Anyone have any experience that can help as we make this call?

Meme. A product manager is happily chasing a yellow balloon that is "The Right Product". The following panel, a Pink Monster called "How we've always done things" is holding back the product manager from the right product. The product manager is nervous.
I'm never posting anything on LinkedIn without a meme again. #productsky

What are we building if our teams are not permitted to empathize with or discuss the diversity and accessibility needs of our users?
Isn't empathy the basis of our work? #productsky
I’ll be in Amsterdam in May and thinking about attending the Product-Led Summit. Who’s been? Is it a good one? #productsky
Hello I'm new here.
Could someone please direct me to #productsky #prodsky? Where the #designers #pms #devs at?
Velocity is a vector measurement, which means it consists of a magnitude and a direction.
Velocity without a direction is just speed. Think about that next time you use this word in the context of productivity.

Curious. Does your design team do UX/UI the CMS or is that left to developers?
