EV adoption in Malaysia expected to accelerate following rising crude oil prices KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s shift towards electric vehicles (EVs) may be accelerated due to rising crude oil prices, especially among buyers of the premium internal combustion engine (ICE) segment, according to CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd. The research firm, in a research note today, said it expects EV adoption rates nationwide to increase in 2026, supported by the launch of the Proton e.MAS 5. “The growth is also supported by the continuation of tax incentives for locally assembled (CKD) EVs,” he said.
