I'm fascinated by all things basal & primitive, things that don't fit neatly into the general classification of things. If you live where horsetail is common, no biggie. But they don't occur where I live and I found some at the local shop. A window into the Devonian. β€οΈ

Kittisack Phoutthavong et al. revealed that #PhylogeneticConservatism shapes trait differences in #LimestoneForests (LFs) and #Non-limestoneForests (NLFs), ultimately forming #Pteridophyte species with different #LeafCharacteristics.
