It's rolled like fancy butter, but because it is brown, it brings to mind something rather less pleasant. There are a few slices of shallots and some green sprouts atop the parfait. I know my dad, refined Englishman that he is, would call it sh** on a shingle.
The aforementioned parfait has been pushed back and the lovely side salad moved to the front. It's a small dish, has fresh spring greens, some tiny red pieces of tomato and some chopped onions. A small white teapot can be seen past the parfait sitting on the table in the upper right of the frame.
OK, look, I know the first item is... unfortunate looking, shall we say, but I assure you the Wild Mushroom Parfait was delicious. Lovely side salad for context and distraction.
