"FM 91;" boasting that they didn't change formats with the tagline "WETA to the Rescue!" *For a brief time, WETA did change their radio format by foolishly dumping their classical/folk format in 2005 for the same news-intensive format that rival WAMU 88.5 morphed into. However, WETA resurrected their classical format after then-commercial classical rival WGMS 103.5 FM bit the dust in 2007. Ad copy: "WETA to the Rescue! Your favorite station switched formats? What are you going to do? We suggest you listen to WETA-FM stereo at 90.9. We have the most powerful signal in the Baltimore/Washington area/75,000 watts. WETA-FM programs classical music some 15 hours a day! Including the Baltimore Symphony Summer Festival. Your loss could be your gain! WETA-FM 90.9." Additional FM simulcast/relay signals of WETA-FM 90.9 in my home area of Frederick, Maryland at 88.9 FM and Hagerstown at 89.1 FM were added years later!

Maryland Public Television budget rises but federal cuts leave a funding hole DLS recommended the FY2027 allowance of $48.4 million for Maryland Public Television while flagging a federal rescission of Corporation for Public Broadcasting funds that will sharply reduce CPB grants; DLS also recommended releasing $100,000 withheld over prior audit findings if committees raise no objections.

Maryland Public Television's budget is set to increase by $3.2 million, but looming federal funding cuts could leave a significant gap in their finances.
