GROWING UP IS HARD TO DO!
Creative Team: Bill Mantlo, Sal Buscema, Gerry Talaoc, Bob Sharen, Ken Bruzenak and Carl Potts.

Since his arrival in one of the many worlds of the Crossroads, the Hulk has become a prisoner of Maktu and his red-skinned Iron Knights while trying to rescue the green-skinned Nalee, a woman whose tears cause flowers to grow.
The Hulk is put to work grinding down the bones of the Iron Knight's victims, which will later be used to expand their City of Death.
With everyone on this world being proportionately stronger than him, the Hulk is easily whipped into submission.
However, his near mindless form is still capable of rebellion, although it is easily quashed by Maktu's minions.
After another beating, the Hulk is given water by a tearful Nalee.
Her pleas to Maktu to stop brutalizing her friend fall on deaf ears.
The entire ordeal in the city below is observed by Nalee's people, who are led by her father, a wise old wizard.
Seeing that his daughter is a prisoner of the Iron Knights, the old man demands answers from Vartu, his apprentice.
Vartu explains that while the old man was off strengthening their flower wall, Vartu and Nalee disobeyed his orders not to venture out of the protection of the roses, which led to Nalee's capture.
Seeking to solve the problem himself, Vartu tried to cast a spell to summon a demon to save her.
With the appearance of the Hulk, Vartu believed he had succeeded in finding the power needed to save his master's daughter, but soon, the Hulk was captured as well.
The old man is furious and thinks about how he raised his daughter in a sheltered environment and as such, she has no capacity to defend herself with her magical powers.
The old man grimly wonders if he made the wrong choice of raising her daughter and their people with no ability to defend themselves.

FANCY MEETING YOU HERE!
Creative Team: Bill Mantlo, Sal Buscema, Gerry Talaoc, Bob Sharen, Ken Bruzenak, Pat Blevins and Carl Potts.

The Hulk has returned from another world to find that his old enemies the U-Foes are there waiting for him. Although the U-Foes are eager to get revenge against the Hulk, the mindless creature no longer remembers who they are. Still, Ironclad attacks the Hulk!
The resulting impact generates a massive force that reverberates across the Crossroads portals, shaking up infinite worlds in the process.
As the battle rages, the rest of the U-Foes prepare to attack.
As she watches, Vapor suddenly notices how they all suddenly de-age into children and then rapidly age to their present ages and forms.
She then turns into a toxic gas and seaps into Hulk's lungs.
The Hulk then spits out fire, engulfing Ironclad.
Red hot, Ironclad resumes his clash with the Hulk.
Meanwhile, Vector and X-Ray are trying to keep the Puffball Collective at bay, to prevent it from interfering with their battle against the Hulk.
Vector then unleashes his full power in order to try and throw the Hulk into one of the portals.
However, Hulk is able to resist the attack and knocks Vector out with a single blow.
The Hulk knocks X-Ray through a portal and into a world where he is consumed by a monster that feeds on radiation.
Vapor is lured onto a planet where there is no atmosphere.
As she floats away, the failsafe spell sends the Hulk back to the Crossroads.
Next, he forces Ironclad into a world that is made entirely of quicksand.
Caught in the mire, Ironclad soon sinks below the muck.
Lastly, the Hulk sends Vector into a world where high winds toss around deadly chunks of debris, forcing Vector to use his powers to perpetually deflect objects thrown his way.

Having earned the trust of the Hulk, the Puffball Collective continues its attempts to revive the submerged mind of the creature.
Telepathically scanning the Hulk's memories, the Collective tries to encourage this by assuming younger forms of Bruce Banner.
When the Collective assumes the form of an adult Banner, it causes the Hulk to lash out in anger.
In order to calm the Hulk down, the Collective assumes a form similar to his own.
The Puffball Collective's attempts to revive the Hulk's mind are suddenly interrupted when the energy creature known as Klattu suddenly appears in the Crossroads.
The Hulk attacks Klattu, but the massive creature easily swats him away.
After deflecting the rest of the Hulk's attacks, Klattu suddenly becomes aware of all the portals and decides to seek out the energy that resides on the worlds on the opposite side.
The creature suddenly turns into energy, which splits off into thousands of tendrils that pass through the portals.
No sooner is Klaatu is gone, does a ship full of his pursuers arrive aboard the ship called Andromeda. When Xeron and his crew spot the Hulk they instantly recognize him and pull "ashore" so that Xeron can attempt to convince him to rejoin their mission to destroy Klaatu!
