Vet turned Lib Dem MP, Danny Chambers, tells me how his proposed private member’s bill would outlaw the importing of dogs with docked tails or clipped ears – and puppies younger than six months. @dannychambers.bsky.social’s #PuppySmugglingBill is backed by the Dogs Trust and RSPCA.
Pet mutilations like ear cropping are still widespread despite such cruel procedures being illegal. Why? Import of animals that have already had these procedures is still legal. To end the abuse we must shut down the import loophole. I'm introducing legislation to do just that. #PuppySmugglingBill
