French debut The Girls We Want by Princia Car is launched in #Cannes2025 #Quinzaine for SND. Based on workshops with young people, the film does indeed offer an original 30-minute immersion with new faces, but then gets stuck with its caricatured figures. And the pianist is a pain.
Militantropos, by the Tabor collective revealed at Generation and DokLeipzig, is an Ukrainian documentary launched at #Cannes2025 #Quinzaine for Square Eyes. Although the image is beautiful, the lighting seems to be a little too supportive of a clumsy mise-en-scène. Venice had a better film OoC.
