Tonight is the 81st Anniversary of the loss of Stirling LJ518 EX-K.

25th September 1944.

12 Stirlings from RAF North Creake were flying Window and Mandrel operations that night.

One Aircraft of 199 Squadron EX-K crashed on return.

There were no survivors

Today we marked the 81st anniversary of EX-P, piloted by F/S Heggison - flying a Mandrel Screen sortie. The ORB outlines that ‘the last information on him being at 00.26hrs. when he acknowledged a movement from Group’. Nothing has ever been heard of him or his crew since.

80 years ago today on 7 January 1945

Squadron 171/’A’ is reported missing, nothing being heard of him after take off.

Today we placed poppies in each of their names and felt sadness at their ages, all 8 Crew were between 20 and 23 years old

They gave their lives for our freedom
