“Now, the Carney government is doubling down with more subsidies, deregulation, and backing for the very industries driving the crisis. RBC bankrolls it, and Indigenous communities, students and young people are left to live with the fallout.”

“At UBC Okanagan, we’ve already felt the consequences of a lack of climate action. The 2023 wildfires in the Okanagan forced an evacuation of our campus and devastated syilx lands – a direct result of the fossil fuel emissions banks like RBC keeps funding.”

This fall, the university of Ottawa’s Telfer school of management proudly launched its new green Academy, a program promising to educate students on global environmental challenges, sustainable business, and responsible leadership. However, this announcement also came with the $2 million donation from the Royal Bank of Canada. A bank currently under federal investigation for alleged greenwashing, exposes the world's largest fossil fuel financier in 2022. A bank that funds pipelines violating indigenous sovereignty and threatening water and land. This is not a climate leadership this is a PR buyout this is greenwashing. After years of student climate advocacy, sits ins, and demands for, uOttawa continues to partner with RBC. Students have never opposed climate education. We oppose fossil fuel funded climate education. We can't build a just future with fossil fuel money
