When I was younger, my dad would get me out of school early and we would drive to Cleveland to watch the Yankees take batting practice before the game. Sometimes we had good luck getting there early enough for autographs. Once we met Rickey outside the Clubhouse entrance to Municipal Stadium back in like 87-89. He got out of the cab and went to head inside, walking by us. We asked him to sign for us, told us he had left his wallet in his locker the night before and had to grab it to get the cabbie. We figured he'd send a clubhouse kid out to pay and we'd never see him again. But sure enough, Rickey comes out, pays the cab fare, tips the driver $100 and signs baseballs and cards for us and talks to me, my dad and our cousins for like 20 minutes. One of the friendliest guys you'd meet. Just making small talk with some random fans a few hours before a game. I was a Rickey fan from that point forward. Legend #Rickey
