We then see Levi showing a primary school-aged Isabel a framed photo that we presently only see the back of. Levi smiles gently as little Isabel gazes at the picture with great curiosity. Text continues from the point of view of teenage Isabel: "Dad always spoke so highly of her. It was one of the only times I'd see him smile... though it'd be tinged with sadness by the time he'd finished talking." Finally we see the photo. It is a picture taken by Levi of a happy, smiling Petra as she turned around to face him while they were walking together through castle gardens. Text concludes with, "Y'know... I don't think he ever stopped loving her."

Levi arrives just as she leaves and assumes the worst about her reasons for being there. Hilarity (and angst) ensues. This story takes place concurrently with events described throughout chapters 20-26 of the Attack on Titan manga, or episodes 15, 16 and 19 of the anime.

I just re-read It's Complicated in one sitting. I'm happy to say I'm still really pleased with it (although I'm also a little bit sad now).

"Hanji gives Erwin relationship advice" is still my favourite chapter summary, ever.
