Talking about #BokujouMonogatari ( #StoryofSeasons) and #RuneFactory www.twitch.tv/rockmanshii
Marie wearing a raspberry beret (the kind you'd find at a second-hand store) while writing with a giant green pencil that's about as tall as she is.
A semi-subterranean farm under Sharance Tree, surrounded by tree roots with light pouring in from above.
The artwork used on the box art of the original Harvest Moon (牧場物語). It depicts Pete in the center of a large horseshoe, jumping forward while raising a pitchfork above his head and surrounded by animals. The animals include a dog, fox, cow, horse, chickens, baby chicks, bunny, blue bird, squirrel, and raccoon.
Artwork of Pete wearing a white disco suit and sunglasses with an afro made out of cherry blossom petals.
One final reminder and assortment of official art for your perusal, 'cause it's April 6th in Japan right now! I wonder when we'll see the results...

Third panel, featuring a portrait of June, formerly known as Antoinette: E/C: "Imagine Antoinette's personality, but times 100." P: "1-100!?" Fourth panel, the protagonist is facing Erik/Claude: P: "Your wife must find frogs IRRESISTIBLE. How many did you gift until proposal?"E/C: "Just who do you think my daughter is?"
A 4 panel manga. In the first panel, Takakura and Sion, the protagonist, are cheering on a newborn calf, asking for it to stand up. In the second panel, the calf stands up. Yaaay! In the third panel, Nami has just given birth to a baby. In the fourth panel Sion is cheering for the baby, asking it to stand up. It does not work that way.
A 4 panel manga titled "Secret Book." In the first panel, Sion is looking at a magazine. "Oh yeah... This is the good stuff..." In the second panel, Sion continues. You're reading a dirty book, aren't you!?" Sion: "Huh!?" In the fourth panel: Sion: "It's a cattle catalogue...?" Molly: "..... Ah..."

The same sunny 3D farm landscape with a "bubble cow" and pink flowers. At the top, the "Developer Diaries" header remains. The central board features the first half of the final interview question regarding closing remarks. The text at the top reads: "Rune Factory 5 does come as a surprise, but it makes sense with the context! Friends of Mineral Town is also a solid choice - by and large a fan favorite! Whether you are self-described “old” or otherwise, it’s a testament to the series’ appeal for these games to be able to be enjoyed by players of any age. We’re reaching the end here - do you have any closing remarks for us?" James's response reads: "People have access to so many great tools, nowadays. Game Engines are free to download and learn, there is amazing free software like Blender, honestly, it’s crazy how much easier it is today to just get started making games, as opposed to 30 years ago, even 10 years ago. Developing games is hard, sure, but the ability to learn has never been easier. So if you’re an aspiring developer, there is little holding you back. Sure, you may stumble a few times, your games may not make money, but anyone can actually make them!"
The same sunny 3D farm landscape with a "bubble cow" and pink flowers. At the top, the "Developer Diaries" header remains. The central board concludes the interview with James's final remarks to the community. We’re reaching the end here - do you have any closing remarks for us?" James's response continues: "As for Story of Seasons and Rune Factory fans, my Piczle Cross games are definitely a loving homage, by a fan, for fans. If you’re unsure if you like nonograms, download my latest game, Piczle World of Puzzles, for free from Steam and give it a whirl. If you enjoy those puzzles, then definitely pick up the Story of Seasons and Rune Factory editions. You’ll enjoy puzzling with all your favourite characters, animals and monsters!" "It’s great to see communities build themselves around games or game series. It shows how games can really affect peoples’ lives in a very positive way. As a developer it really feels validating. Of course your community is built around Story of Seasons, but with my Piczle Cross games and previous experience as an artist on the Wii games I definitely feel a little pride by proxy; just having a very small hand in such a beloved franchise. Thank you!"
This interview concludes here. We hope you enjoyed reading!
Once again, thank you so much to @scorestudios.bsky.social for allowing us your time, and to Marvelous for giving us the permission to proceed with the interview. It is so amazingly appreciated!

The same sunny 3D farm landscape with a "bubble cow" and pink flowers. At the top, the "Developer Diaries" header remains. The central board contains a self-critique from James regarding his work on the titles. The text at the top reads: "There’s a lot that’s offered to players! It’s very clear that you’ve poured a lot of heart into not only the collaboration titles, but the titles under the main Piczle IP as well. Now, with these titles released - if you had to give yourself your own critique, what would you say are the most and least favorite aspects of your titles, both Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons and Piczle Cross: Rune Factory?" James's response reads: "My nonogram code has been improving since Piczle Cross Adventure. Finally now it is at a stage where it’s pretty foolproof, in my current game Piczle World of Puzzles. It would be nice to go back and implement the current nonogram code in my older titles, with all the improvements and quality of life features, but that comes with a lot of issues. Also, due to my ambitions with Piczle Cross: Rune Factory I overextended myself somewhat. There are an insane amount of puzzles and features and it burned me out a little. I should definitely have scaled back a bit and created a smaller, more polished title."
The same sunny 3D farm landscape with a "bubble cow" and pink flowers. At the top, the "Developer Diaries" header remains. The central board concludes James's self-critique on the development process. As a continuation of the previous tile, the top text remains the same: "There’s a lot that’s offered to players! It’s very clear that you’ve poured a lot of heart into not only the collaboration titles, but the titles under the main Piczle IP as well. Now, with these titles released - if you had to give yourself your own critique, what would you say are the most and least favorite aspects of your titles, both Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons and Piczle Cross: Rune Factory?" James's response continues: "That said, it was so wonderful to work with IPs I genuinely enjoy - as a player - that I’m really happy to have been able to add a little to the worlds of Story of Seasons and Rune Factory, hoping fans of those games will enjoy the many references and homages. I don’t think the games would have worked without all the extras though it certainly would have been easier for me to make “just the puzzles”. Had I the time and resources I probably would have added more fan service features; better art gallery options, like zooming, or a proper 3D model inspector, more easter eggs, etc."
We asked James to reflect on his own progress. In return, we received his honest and humbling answer about knowing your own limitations and celebrating the here and now.

Artwork by Igusa Matsuyama featuring the marriage candidates from Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Special Edition. Nami, Celia, Muffy, and Lumina are all in wedding dresses with a forest in the background.
Promotional art of a group of Harvest Sprites dressed as animals. The sprite in the middle has a big green afro and is holding a Nintendo DS.
Promotional artwork for Harvest Moon DS featuring an apparently tiny Pete drawing a horse on the bottom screen of a Nintendo DS. Around him are various animals and Harvest Sprites, including a duck, baby chick, chicken, cat, dog, horse, cow, and sheep.
Artwork for A Wonderful Life (牧場物語 ワンダフルライフ) by Igusa Matsuyama. The game's heroines, Nami, Molly (formerly known as Muffy), Cecelia (formerly known as Celia), are preparing for a picnic on a grassy hill with trees and the ocean in the background. Cecelia is unfurling a large checkered blanket, with blue birds flying overhead. Molly is sitting on a large tortoise's back while opening a picnic basket of goodies. Nami is enjoying the breeze and carrying a bag of some kind while a floppy-eared dog hides behind her leg, looking at the viewer. In between them all, a pointy-eared dog is frantically chasing a grasshopper.

Artwork for Harvest Moon: Animal Parade. It features the protagonists and two of their possible children walking in a field with a blue sky behind them. Kasey is carrying crops in a basket, the daughter is watering sprouts on the ground, Finn (a Harvest Sprite) is flying just behind her while a little floppy-eared dog is on the ground below him, Molly is carrying a duck, and the son is ringing a bell and running alongside a baby cow, chicken, baby chicks, and a sheep.
A wallpaper made for the winner of the Animal Parade character popularity poll. Chase is sitting on a small wooden box while peeling an apple with a knife, the skin coming off in a long ribbon. There's a basket of un-peeled apples by his foot, and a table with a bowl of strawberries and bottled drinks visible as well.
Artwork for Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility. It depicts Angela and Kevin alongside a variety of animals on a pink gradient background. The animals include a bunny, small birds, penguin, and a chihuahua. Angela is kneeling and holding a red Harvest Sprite, who is in turn holding a leaf, which is dripping little droplets of water onto a flower. Kevin is in the background looking over his shoulder at the scene.
Artwork for Tree of Tranquility. Kevin is in the foreground holding a large cannister of milk, with a cow and sheep standing behind him and a blue harvest sprite by his shoulder. Angela is in the background holding a baby chick while kneeling next to two chickens, and another chicken and a baby chick are behind her. A floppy eared dog runs between them.
Some official wallpapers from Animal Parade/Tree of Tranquility by Mika Nunokawa. Y'know, if someone from ToT/AP won, it could be the first time Igusa drew them.
