The same sunny 3D farm landscape with a "bubble cow" and pink flowers. At the top, the "Developer Diaries" header remains. The central board features the first half of the final interview question regarding closing remarks.

The text at the top reads: "Rune Factory 5 does come as a surprise, but it makes sense with the context! Friends of Mineral Town is also a solid choice - by and large a fan favorite! Whether you are self-described “old” or otherwise, it’s a testament to the series’ appeal for these games to be able to be enjoyed by players of any age. We’re reaching the end here - do you have any closing remarks for us?"

James's response reads: "People have access to so many great tools, nowadays. Game Engines are free to download and learn, there is amazing free software like Blender, honestly, it’s crazy how much easier it is today to just get started making games, as opposed to 30 years ago, even 10 years ago. Developing games is hard, sure, but the ability to learn has never been easier. So if you’re an aspiring developer, there is little holding you back. Sure, you may stumble a few times, your games may not make money, but anyone can actually make them!"

James's response continues: "As for Story of Seasons and Rune Factory fans, my Piczle Cross games are definitely a loving homage, by a fan, for fans. If you’re unsure if you like nonograms, download my latest game, Piczle World of Puzzles, for free from Steam and give it a whirl. If you enjoy those puzzles, then definitely pick up the Story of Seasons and Rune Factory editions. You’ll enjoy puzzling with all your favourite characters, animals and monsters!"

"It’s great to see communities build themselves around games or game series. It shows how games can really affect peoples’ lives in a very positive way. As a developer it really feels validating. Of course your community is built around Story of Seasons, but with my Piczle Cross games and previous experience as an artist on the Wii games I definitely feel a little pride by proxy; just having a very small hand in such a beloved franchise. Thank you!"

The same sunny 3D farm landscape with a "bubble cow" and pink flowers. At the top, the "Developer Diaries" header remains. The central board contains a self-critique from James regarding his work on the titles.

The text at the top reads: "There’s a lot that’s offered to players! It’s very clear that you’ve poured a lot of heart into not only the collaboration titles, but the titles under the main Piczle IP as well. Now, with these titles released - if you had to give yourself your own critique, what would you say are the most and least favorite aspects of your titles, both Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons and Piczle Cross: Rune Factory?"

James's response reads: "My nonogram code has been improving since Piczle Cross Adventure. Finally now it is at a stage where it’s pretty foolproof, in my current game Piczle World of Puzzles. It would be nice to go back and implement the current nonogram code in my older titles, with all the improvements and quality of life features, but that comes with a lot of issues. Also, due to my ambitions with Piczle Cross: Rune Factory I overextended myself somewhat. There are an insane amount of puzzles and features and it burned me out a little. I should definitely have scaled back a bit and created a smaller, more polished title."

James's response continues: "That said, it was so wonderful to work with IPs I genuinely enjoy - as a player - that I’m really happy to have been able to add a little to the worlds of Story of Seasons and Rune Factory, hoping fans of those games will enjoy the many references and homages. I don’t think the games would have worked without all the extras though it certainly would have been easier for me to make “just the puzzles”. Had I the time and resources I probably would have added more fan service features; better art gallery options, like zooming, or a proper 3D model inspector, more easter eggs, etc."
