Happy Birthday, Pamela Colman Smith!

Corrine Pamela Colman Smith was born in Middlesex, England on February 16, 1878.

Known to millions as the illustrator of the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck, Pamela Colman Smith was a Renaissance woman, ahead of her time in many ways.

Photo of the Empress card from Rider Waite Smith Tarot deck. It’s displayed on a hand-embroidered altar cloth gifted to me by the Shipibo-Conibo people several years ago, of the center slice of ayahuasca. To the right is a tan leather rattle I made, above the card is a short 4” selenite wand, to the left is a bear carved from mat black obsidian, and below the bear figure is a tumbled carnelian stone. Above the altar cloth is a large carnelian flame and a garnet fox figurine.

Sometimes, you just have to let it flow. Just be.
