#CPIH is to be used instead of #RPI from 2030, on average CPIH tends to fall midway between CPI and RPI.

#StudentLoans for example still uses RPI in it's interest formula, many rents are calculated using RPI, #RailFares until this yeaf used RPI to uprate them.

CPIH includes #owneroccupiercosts.

Yayyy! Regulated rail fares are NOT going up this month! Normally March is when the government loves to clobber us with a chonky rise, but fares are frozen for 12 months.

(Non-regulated fares might go up, but this is still a big victory for groups like the Campaign for Better Transport.) #RailFares

Why rail fares weren’t frozen years ago – the real reason Rail fares will finally be frozen – but it could have been done years ago. Here are the real reasons it didn’t, and the falsehoods behind it.

Before you switch off tonight: you’ve been overpaying for rail travel for years, just to keep bosses in bonuses. Fares could have been frozen since 2020.

On your way home? Your rail fares were kept high for years to protect operator bonuses — even though the government could have frozen them all along.
That’s why your commute costs so much.

A little grateful that #UK #railFares are to be frozen next year. But let's put that into perspective.

Since 2010:

Rail fares have increased by 64%

Fuel duty has increased by 0%

For the next 15 years, this needs to be rebalanced

Passengers have been paying inflated rail fares — not because it was necessary, but to protect operator bonuses and Tory austerity. They could have been frozen all along. Feel angry? You should.

Scotland scraps peak rail fares - will the rest of the UK follow? Working patterns have changed since Covid so could peak train pricing be phased out altogether?

I like this idea, tempt users back, increased footfall should cover the shortfall. But try and do something about the unreliablity.
