Exit surveys and polling indicate that more than on average 90% of voters find ranking candidates to be easy, including with first-time implementation. Ranked Choice Voting implementation requires a significantly smaller investment of time and resources at the local level than many other reforms. Most aspects of implementation fall to the Bureau of Elections and not to clerks. Many Ranked Choice Voting jurisdictions release unofficial RCV results on election night. 79% release results within 24 hours. Every major U.S. election vendor, including Clear Ballot, ES&S, Hart, Liberty (formerly Dominion), and Unisyn, have certified systems and technology for ranked balloting that have been used in cities and states across the country.
Opponents of Ranked Choice Voting say:
- It's too complicated/confusing for voters
- It's too costly and time-consuming for local clerks
- It could delay election results
- We don't have the infrastructure
These are all myths.
