Harris hawks hunt in packs. One bird pins down the prey while the others rip it to bloody shreds. They have know to take down beasts as large as buffalo😲 using this method with as few as a dozen hawks.

Yesterday was the first day of the season for the Free Flight Demonstrations. At one point the owl landed on the ground behind some bushes and wouldn't return. One of the trainers had to walk over and retrieve it.

The hawk is sitting on a faded wooden fence post. His head is turned towards the camera, so it is like his eyes are staring at you. The background is dark with a little bit of greenery around his head. I did darken the background when I edited the photo. I was trying to draw more attention to the details of the hawk and his eyes.
