Saturday afternoon!
#booksky #readharder #readharder2026
This month for @bookriot.bsky.social's #ReadHarder I read Killing Floor by Lee Child & Bat Eater &Other Names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker. Next month: Madame Fourcade's Secret War by Lynne Olson & Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh. #booksky never-anyone-else.blogspot.com/2026/03/book...
V. excited to see what’s in my Library Takeout order next month.
I requested gothic novels published in the last ten years, which is one of this year’s #ReadHarder challenges (and not a genre I’m familiar with); I also cited preference for picks that feature and/or are written by women. #librarysky
I read The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson & How Bad Things Can Get by Darcy Coates for @bookriot.bsky.social's #ReadHarder this month. In March: Killing Floor by Lee Child & Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker. #booksky never-anyone-else.blogspot.com/2026/02/book...
#Read Harder This #BlackHistoryMonth
These seven #books by #Black #authors complete the first seven tasks of the 2026 #ReadHarder Challenge, from microhistories to #gothic #novels.

I don’t often read comics, but I picked this up for #ReadHarder and it’s another reason why I love the annual reading challenge; I’ve been introduced to so many authors over the years - and in this case, a new genre as well (graphic journalism). #booksky @bookriot.bsky.social
This year is my 11th annual @bookriot.bsky.social #ReadHarder Challenge. In this thread, I'll share the books I read to complete each of the 24 tasks. 💙📚 bookriot.com/read-harder-...
Happy Sunday! Today I've completed my 2 January tasks for @bookriot.bsky.social's #ReadHarder Challenge and read Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress by Christine Baldacchino & Starcourt Mall Escape (Stranger Things #9) by Jennifer Brody. #booksky never-anyone-else.blogspot.com/2026/01/book...
As someone who unabashedly judges a book by its cover, this list is a dream. #booksky #readharder
I'm three books away from finishing two reading challenges this year:
#ReadHarder by @bookriot.bsky.social that I've been taking annually since 2018
and #DecolonizeYourBookshelf (more of a journey) by @paperbacksfrybread.bsky.social which I enjoy even though I've never completed it yet. (YET!)
In 2026 I'll be back for the @bookriot.bsky.social #ReadHarder Challenge! I think I've picked out what will be 24 great books. #tbr #booksky #bookblogger never-anyone-else.blogspot.com/2025/12/book...
I've finished my 2025 @bookriot.bsky.social's #ReadHarder Challenge. Of my last 2 books, my favorite was We'll Prescribe You A Cat by Syou Ishida. I'm looking forward to the 2026 challenge! #booksky #bookblogger never-anyone-else.blogspot.com/2025/12/book...
A (Very) Short History of Life on Earth 4.6 Billion Years in 12 Pithy Chapters Henry Gee
Beginning far before the big bang and ending sometime in the next billion years, all in around 300 pages is, indeed (short). Quippy and intelligent, simplified information for all ages 6/10 💙📚 #nonfiction #history #biology #henrygee #AVSHoLoE #booklover #booksky #lifeonearth #readharder #libby #read
This October I read The Fisherman by John Langan & Digging Up Devils: The Search For A Satanic Murder Cult in Rural Ohio by Jack Legg for @bookriot.bsky.social's #ReadHarder Challenge. Have you read them? #booksky #bookblogger never-anyone-else.blogspot.com/2025/10/book...
Stormy A story about finding a forever home By Guojing
A very cute children's comic about, as the tagline says, finding a forever home. Read for the #readharder challenge and I loved it! 9/10 💙📚

Check out my pinned post to vote for the monologue Pink Roses before 10/6!🩷🌹
The Devil and Sherlock Holmes Tales of Murder, Madness, and Obsession David Grann Author of The Lost City of Z Shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize
While the first few stories caught my attention, true crime is just not my thing and by the end I was ready to be done. Impressive journalism that would perhaps appeal to others more. 4/10 💙📚

With that, my 10th #ReadHarder is done! Grateful to @bookriot.bsky.social for another fun set of tasks.
I ended up reading three books in May for Book Riot's #ReadHarder Challenge 2025 and all three were pretty great! Check out my thoughts on them blog. Have you read any of them? #bookblogger #booksky

7. Read a book about a piece of media you love: Be Ready When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten
Really enjoyed Garten’s chaotic antics (who knew?!) in her young adult years. Last chapters felt flat, but overall a great read for any fellow Barefoot Contessa fan. Store-bought is fine.

24. Pick a 2015 Read Harder Challenge task to complete: Private Equity by Carrie Sun (audiobook)
In a most apt pairing, Sun’s memoir was covered for @newyorker.com by Uncanny Valley author Anna Wiener. Can’t add to an already perfect review except to say it does Sun’s work justice.
#readharder
I don't always complete @bookriot.bsky.social's annual #ReadHarder challenge, but I've discovered countless authors/books through it over the years. Never too late to give it a try and stretch your reading habits too.
@lmansley.bsky.social inspired me to share my 2025 Reader Harder picks:
Read Harder: Women’s History Month: March is Women’s History Month, so today, I thought I’d share some recommendations for books about women in history that ... https://bookriot.com #WomensHistoryMonth #ReadHarder
I’m also doing the #ReadHarder challenge, and have loved seeing your picks.
Last months listens. Gretchen Witmer's book was short and GOOD! Amanda Jones' That Librarian takes a hard at right wig book banners attacks on innocent people. There were tears.

I listened to So Let Them Burn for the @bookriot.bsky.social #readharder challenge last year. Running to put a hold on book 2!
Trying to find a new book to start — 1 hour later I have a pile of books to read for Black History month, a pile that will fulfill Read Harder 2025, a pile of “others” and a pile to get rid of. And an inkling of what to read next. Just me?
#booksky #readwithlisa #blackhistorymonth #readharder
Well that was a pretty great start to my reading year!
