Ted Bun
A new master of darkness?
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 April 2024
From the opening story, The Mistress of the Crows, Gary Kruse treats us to a series of short stories that just seemed to get darker and darker, with just one exception and even that has its moments!
A collection to sit down and read one at a time ... It is not a collection to binge read rather savour the different favours, reflect and digest before starting the next tale.

Skillfully written ghastly tales!

Gary Kruse writes well structured and compelling stories, and certainly has a wicked imagination when it comes to horror! I struggle with long novels due to time restraints, so short stories for me are attractive and this collection didn't disappoint.
A blue book cover featuring a crow and a feint skull with the text “GARY KRUSE” & “The Mistress of the Crows”. The cover sits on a bed of grey skulls.
I think Mistress of the Crows is a bloody good collection of short stories, but then, I would. I wrote it. So rather than me telling you how good it is, check out what readers are saying…
