#RemoveTheCap seems logical—but there's a catch: Social Security is designed as *insurance* (pay in/get out), not welfare. Eliminating cap *without benefit changes* would force high earners to subsidize others far beyond own benefits—turning it into a political target instead of universal insurance
If Congress would remove the cap on who has to pay into Social Security Medicare and Social Security would be safe for 100 years. Right now it’s capped if you make more than $176,100 a year you DO NOT have to pay into Social Security now. What the fuck is that all about?
