An elegant monochrome depiction of a steam train passing from right to left along the graceful arches of the Ribblehead Viaduct in the UK. The smoke from the train's chimney (do trains have chimneys?) is trailing behind it in a wavy ribbon that grows thicker and hazier as the locomotive leaves it behind. We are viewing the scene from a distance, with the hills before and behind the viaduct glowing in the moonlit. Maybe it has snowed, or frosted over? The whole picture has a slightly fuzzier vignette effect around the edges, growing steadily sharper as our eye moves toward the front of the train. The style is so simple it's almost an illustration rather than a work of art. Hold on, that's a false binary. I don't know what I'm trying to say. It's bloody great. That'll do.
Our ears grow used to noise from the motorways a few kms from here - until we realise it's gone quiet, at night, when we hear distant #trains moving in the dark. (Diesels, alas, not romantic #SteamTrains.)
