Finally finished this series and have to say that I think the 1st book was the best one. It had more "mystery" to it, more like a sci-fi noir feel. The other 2 were more like military sci-fi but still good. Morgan definitely has a unique writing style. His worlds are so detailed that it's almost hard to believe it doesn't exist somewhere and he just visits it whenever he wants to write a book. The problem, for me at least, is that sometimes it gets so dense I can't really figure out how it all fits together. Like there was more than one "revelation" that I didn't get. Last book he double-sleeved himself to pull off a plan. This time someone else double-sleeved him so he had to face off against himself. It made for an interesting story (this isn't a spoiler, it happens at the beginning of the book).

Altered Carbon from Richard K Morgan. 4 out of 5 stars
This is my second read and I enjoyed it just as much about 20 years later. I realized I never got to the 3rd book so I decided to re-read the first two and then finally get to the 3rd. This is so dark and gritty, it's like "grimdark-cyberpunk-noir". Graphic sex, torture, extreme violence and all written like he lived through it. It's really pretty amazing. Now I want to see the show again to see how it compares to the books.

Last week I finished reading Thin Air by Richard K. Morgan. Pretty good book, similar pattern to Takeshi Kovacs but with a different tone and of course a different world. If you're a fan of Altered Carbon, you'll probably like Thin Air.
