A lone copse of trees in a bare landscape. When you look more closely you can see the earthen walls of a ringfort at its base.

This is a ringfort that's been avoided by the landowners for generations. They didn't want me to go in and disturb it either but were alright with me noting it. If you see a lone copse of trees among the fields like this, look close and you might see the walls at the foot. #ringforts #Irish #history

This is a pretty clear manmade earthen wall, an earthwork, in the middle of the woods, totally overgrown with ivy and studded with trees. It even looks like it might be a double wall or have a path around the outside, perhaps behind sharpened posts. It goes from left to right across the centre of the picture, its top at eye height.

This is an internal picture of the structure. Honestly, it just looks like a picture of the woods here, it's hard to photograph with so many objects breaking up the shape. See the next image.

So, same image as the last but this time I helpfully scrawled a big red line so you can see that it's a wide open space surrounded by this manmade circular earten wall or earthwork. A ringfort.

A ringfort at ground level, the most prominent one in the satellite image. It is a very obviously artificial circular area of raised ground in a field at a good vantage point in the landscape.
