El nacimiento del eclipse Italia, 2009 Roberto Ferri Italia, 1978 es uno de los artistas más fascinantes del arte actual. Arte actual en el sentido de que es joven y está triunfando en el mundillo, pero desde luego su pintura tiene mucho más del pasado, o mejor dicho de atemporal. Nunca lo académico fue tan transgresor y moderno. Ferri es incluso atacado por parte de la intelligentsia artística actual. Considerado “el nuevo Caravaggio”, —calificativo estúpido en tantísimos aspectos— también hay mucho de Hayez, Bouguereau, Falero o Gêrome en Ferri. Aunque es cierto que Ferri mira bastante al barroquismo y las luces y sombras del seicento para crear sus mundos oníricos en los que la figura humana está siempre presente, siempre desnuda, siempre contando una historia interesante, por críptica que sea. Rotundamente figurativos, sus cuerpos son de un realismo escalofriante, y las contundentes narrativas de sus imágenes que habitan entre el sueño y la vigilia nos suenan de algo, resuenan en lo profundo de nuestro subconsciente proporcionándonos vagas pistas con las que seguir descifrando sus herméticas alegorías. Ferri crea universos de sueños o pesadillas de los que muchas veces tenemos ya referencias (iconografía clásica como la religión y la mitología son dos de sus principales fuentes). Atmósferas embriagadoras, desconcertantes, enrarecidas, en sus pinturas a menudo se unen placer y dolor, Eros y Tánatos juntos. En la sofisticada tortura que vemos en la imagen, muy poéticamente titulada como El nacimiento del eclipse, las connotaciones eróticas son evidentes. Esa máquina surrealista que penetra la carne parece dar tanto placer como dolor a esa figura femenina que casi remite a una mártir cristiana, como un martirio de Ribera. La torturada tiene alas negras, como un antiguo ángel.
