Clean-up duty tonight.

Some friends passed by, asked me to join them.
Told them I can’t.

They already know.

On Shift
Wherever they need me.
Midway, gates, cleanup… doesn’t matter.
Just show up and do the work I'm told to do.

Ranch work’s done.
Truck’s loaded.

I'm loaned back to the Rodeo.
Another weekend of work.
No complaints from me, but I have no choice in the matter.

The rodeo might run all week…
but the Ranch never takes a day off.
Feed the horses.
Check the fence.

Then tomorrow it's back to the arena.

A rodeo cowboy asked me about my collar.
I simply told him it represents my commitment to my Husband and our way of life.

Day 3 — Leaving the Rodeo Grounds

The crowd’s still cheering behind him.
But the Ranch doesn’t take weekends off.

One more stop sign…
then it’s back to work.

The crowds go home.
The lights shut down.

Then the real rodeo hands sit outside the motel with a beer and a cigarette…

and do it all again tomorrow.

Couple hours of sleep in a cheap motel room close to the rodeo grounds.

Mornings can be hard.
I really notice my cage waking up alone.

Still locked up like always.

No complaints though.
Just another reminder of who I belong to.

Another long day at the rodeo ahead.

Shift started right as the crowds hit the gate

Opening night always brings everyone out.

The men from my Ranch showed up looking sharp tonight.

I just took the ticket, dropped it in the box, and sent them through like everyone else.
