On #RomanFortsThursday I’m not apologising for going for a straight up, stone cold classic - Housesteads (or Vercovicium, or even Borcovicium). It is one of 15 forts on Hadrian’s Wall & was constructed in the 120s.

This beautiful English Heritage photo gives a wonderful (and atmospheric) view.
