I like watching The #RoseBowlParade. I really do. Amazing creativity. Like the alternative materials challenge on Project Runway but on a HUGE scale. But the older I get, the more I'm aware of, and ticked off by, there being no Blackness to it.

Growing up in Southern California, my mother hated the #RoseBowlParade. She’d say, “Don’t show people that it’s January and we’re wearing t-shirts! Stop advertising our weather!” This from a woman who found the town we lived in by watching TV news coverage - reporters in short sleeves in February.
