After enjoying a full week of snow days, we love seeing how TSS families made the most of their time— savoring a slower pace together.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared their home photos. ❄️❤️

Had a great time getting out of the house and shooting this roll of Wolfen NP100 film last weekend. Sadly, I think I overdeveloped it a bit. Oh well, part of the learning process and one of the things I love about film.

Central Place is a mixed-use development in Arlington, Virginia, consisting primarily of Central Place Tower (headquarters of Gartner) to the south, and a residential tower to the north, with a plaza between them. The office tower is home to Virginia's second public observation deck, after the City Hall of Richmond, Virginia, located nearly 490 ft (149 m) above sea level,[2] and is the highest public location in the Washington metropolitan area.[4]

Arlington County Vision Zero flyer about the pilot project.

N Oak Street Walkability Improvement Pilot
• Project Description: The County is piloting a protected walking path for people walking on N.
Oak Street between Clarendon Blvd. and 17th St. N using temporary parking restrictions and
movable barriers. The pedestrian pathway is created by adding a barrier between the travel lane
and the curb. This slightly narrows the southbound lane.
• Safety Need:This project creates a safer path for people walking and biking on the west side of
N Oak Street in this dense, high-volume area of Rosslyn. The need for a walking path is elevated
due to a history of seven crashes involving pedestrians and bicyclists between 2017 and 2021.
• Pilot Timeline:
• Begin pilot in spring 2021
• Monitor pilot through 2021 with a data collection checkpoint in October 2021
• Gather community feedback on the pilot in 2022 and identify next steps

• Data Findings & Next Steps:
From 6AM to 6PM about 25 people per
hour walked on N Oak St using the barrier
space. The barriers increased pedestrian
protection and visibility at the driveway,
and cars effectively yielded to pedestrians
walking along the barriers.
In Fall 2022, Arlington County will seek
feedback from the community to
understand the user experience and
further assess whether these barriers have
impacted safety on N Oak St. We will use
this feedback to determine a long-term
plan for this segment.

I am happy to report that the N Oak Street Walkability Pilot Project is back! The barriers were removed a few months ago for paving work so the walking path had started to become a parking lane. I think a permanent sidewalk here is/was under consideration for the 25/26 capital budget.

Major safety upgrades planned for busy Arlington roadway City leaders in Arlington will soon make changes to a popular corridor that connects Arlington’s Rosslyn neighborhood to D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood.

🚨 ROSSLYN CAN GET A BETTER URBAN STREET! Proposals for Lynn St through the heart of #RosslynVA includes "reducing this stretch of road from four vehicle lanes to three, adding a protected bike lane, & improving parking for food deliveries". Feedback open until June 5 (link in replies). #VisionZero

Possibly one of my last trips to the #ViewOfDC before the building is sold to CoStar and the public loses access to the observation deck. A fantastic view as always, and helps remind me just hit beautiful DC & NoVA can be. #RosslynVA
