Today, we kicked off a model ADU code policy effort, and submitted DADUs in two other towns.

Tomorrow we’re presenting three missing middle projects: one #rslz urban infill, a 22 unit low income housing for a rural town, and a seattle backyard cottage.

Lots going on!

Also unsurprisingly, detached houses even on small lots (like #RSLZ? or smaller?) was the preference. We're inculcated early and everywhere, so opening the door to typologies that are efficient enough to fight climate change (buildings/units that touch) will be uphill battle. 3/4

30% of our residential projects either include ADUs or are ADUs, and about a 1/3 of those are direct result of 2019 reforms (three dwellings on SF lots, ADUs in #RSLZ )

It is a very popular form of housing!

I read CB 119835 & it seems okay. There are certainly tweaks I wish were in the bill, but what's changed is reasonable. Unless I missed something?

I'm not happy about adding an occupancy limit to #RSLZ but I understand we have it in other SF zones, so feels like an omission.

so frustrated with @seattledot. We are designed a 3 unit #RSLz project w/ no parking. They are requiring us to design but NOT BUILD improvements to an inaccessible alley, even though we don't need/want access. Just prove it could be done. We're doing full street improvements too.

Some of the permutations of attached, detached, townhouses, 'plexes & #ADUs that are possible on this triple lot in #RSLZ. We want to preserve the center for a community garden & provide modest sized places that by their nature are more affordable. Go from 1 household up to 12!

We've split an existing house into (2) 2200 SF townhouses, added a second and partial 3rd story. Each side is 2200 SF and has an ADU at the daylight basement level. #RSLZ

We've just submitted for permit this 'backyard duplex' as part of an #RSLZ project. It is 2200 SF two story altogether, split nearly down the middle to create a 1000 SF 2BR and a 1200 SF 3BR. Works as a rowhouse too, if you were to orient it to the street.

It isn't a one size fits all thing. For low density it is easy to integrate ADUs. For single family zones, make lots 'Plexible' like Minneapolis and Portland are doing. Reduce the minimum lot size, such as Seattle's #RSLZ. Or look at those urban parking lots as infill...
