On this day in 1967 Ruta Sepetys was born.

Sepetys was born in Detroit to Lithuanian parents. She rose to fame by writing 'Between Shades of Gray', which tells the story of Lithuanians during Stalinist times (it was inspired from tales of family and close friends).
