BRAVO @governor.ca.gov for vetoing #SB791, which would have cost #California new & used car buyers hundreds of millions of $$ each year by more than tripling the car dealer "document processing fee." #affordability @consumerfed.bsky.social @nationalconsumers.bsky.social @nclc4consumers.bsky.social
@governor.ca.gov Newsom please VETO #SB791, which would give greedy car dealers a huge windfall at the expense of CA's new and used car buyers. Now is the wrong time to jack up the price of buying a new or used car. Please VETO #SB791

Greedy car dealers want to raise how much #California new & used car buyers pay them for handling routine paperwork, from $85 to $500 -- a huge windfall for multi-billion $$ dealers like #Tesla CarMax & AutoNation. NO on #SB791.

No matter how the #Trump / #Musk feud shakes out, #SB791 would still be bad news for #California car buyers. We believe you shouldn't have to pay greedy car dealers -- including Elon Musk / Tesla -- an extra $500 just for them to handle routine paperwork. actionnetwork.org/letters/stop...
Under current California law, "document processing fees" are capped at $85. But some Ds in Sacramento are teaming up with Rs to push a bill that would allow car dealers to charge you 1% of the vehicle cost up to $500. So contact your assemblyperson!!
NO to #SB791!
