And just like that, #SDNDurham2025 is over! What a wonderful few days - such a warm and friendly atmosphere, and a stunning venue. Special thanks to Sarah Gubbins for all her incredible work in planning and organising.

Day 3 of #SDNDurham2025 brought more great papers - I enjoyed presenting on the Enslavement and Freedom panel and getting useful feedback, as well as listening to the final panel on bodies and corporeality - there has been such variety and such excellent scholarship shared.

Following an afternoon session on the future of XIX studies, including helpful discussion on what we can do to better support our PG/ECR community, it was lovely to have them all together in St Chad's Senior Common Room, and to chat to so many about their experiences and passions. #SDNDurham2025

It was an enormous pleasure and privilege to chair our first keynote speaker at #SDNDurham2025, Professor Pratima Prasad, with a fascinating paper on enslavement, marronnage and freedom in the French Indian Ocean in a spectacular venue. Very much looking forward to the book! @uksdn.bsky.social
