Talks, posters, debates… Our CREAF team was everywhere at #SIBECOLAEET2025 — not just sharing results, but asking: who is science for? Because “another #science is possible” isn’t just a theme. For us, it means putting degrowth, #diversity & sustainability at the heart of what we do.

Great week at the #SIBECOLAEET2025! It always feels like a family reunion: catching up with ex-colleagues, friends, and meeting new people. Discovering exciting ongoing research in ecology across the Iberian Peninsula (and beyond). Also: amazing food and stunning nature!

Back home after 13 (!) hours of travel from #SIBECOLAEET2025. Feeling weary but mainly just grateful. It’s always inspiring to be surrounded by great science and fun, kind people. Really curious to see which conversations from the bar grow into collaborations!

🔍Ecology in the field🍃
Today we left the lecture halls and stepped into nature for our technical field trips. Mountains, coasts, culture and conservation — a perfect way to end an incredible week of science and connection.

Any excuse to post this blast from the past from the last AEET conference that I went to in Almería. Still probably the best poster I've seen in the last few years courtesy of @ibartomeus.bsky.social. #SIBECOLAEET2025

We've finally worked out what happened to the materials for the BES stand at #SIBECOLAEET2025 - they never made it into the country & have been sent back to the UK by customs officials... Sorry for those of you that wanted to talk to me, but I'll be at my poster soon so find me there if you want.

Up now in the restoration ecology session at #SIBECOLAEET2025 is Pedro Villar Salvador whose work shows that seed bank transfer in mined areas improves vegetation cover to levels seen in reference pasture but species richness recovery is less effective.

Now in the Forest management and restoration session Lide Albaniz from is talking about the impacts of post windthrow harvesting on beech forests in Northern Spain, showing that retention forestry results in better regeneration than salvage logging #SIBECOLAEET2025

🧠🌱 You’ve not only made the science flow — you’ve made everyone feel welcome, guided and cared for.

We truly couldn’t have done it without you.
You made the difference.
