Day 11 in the big SMWS whisky advent calendar and I have to admit I'm struggling getting these notes. Sure, slight peatiness, of smoke, bit of a bite. It's a speyside I have a named bottle of and I recognise it. Not my favourite, but a nice easy drink.

Day 9 in the big SMWS whisky advent calendar. Lovely amber colour, fudge smells. Sweet, slightly buttery, very palatable. Speyside, 60.1%, and I didn't want to add water. Very nice.

Day 8 in the big SMWS whisky advent calendar. It's a single grain whisky from the Highlands, quite young, fresh, light, buttery, a wee bit of peat. I really don't get the rest of the notes that are suggested! Nice and easy though.

Day 7 in the big whisky advent calendar. Off somewhere I don't always like to go, usually too medicinal for me, however SMWS have transformed it.
After the initial hit it's waxy and warm. On the palate (as they say!) it's a chilli warmth and golden syrup.

Day 6 in the big SMWS whisky advent calendar. Speyside again with Fruitcake Earthquake! Sticky toffee pudding, figs, marzipan. Lovely, fruity, very warming. I'm going to have a terrible time deciding which to buy after this!

Day 5 in the big whisky advent calendar. Highland way now and after a 31k cycle is warming me up nicely. Sea, Scottish forests, and a kick of antiseptic at the end, which isn't that unwelcome as I oft find it.

Day 4 in the whisky advent calendar. It's. A. Blend! Dun-dun duunnn! Also a shock, it's nice. I mean I'm not leaping all over it, but. I get light golden syrup on the nose, nothing near the list on the tasting notes, I get the rum and spice on the taste.

Day 3 in the big whisky advent calendar. Surprise whisky that's been finished in one of my favourite ways, red wine barrique. Rum Raisins it's called, and it does have that through the richness, and definitely spice and warmth. Maybe I should have added some water...ah hell, nah!
