Memorial plaque at former KZ Flossenbürg, for the 7 men, among them Friedrich Bonhoeffer, who were executed here on April 9th 1945.
I took part in the #SNTS2025 excursion to the memorial site of the former concentration camp Flossenbürg today. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was executed here by the Nazis on April 9th 1945. It was a deeply touching visit for me and I'd like to share two thoughts with you that our wonderful guide shared: 1/3
Danke für diese großartige Dokumentation der #SNTS2025! Es war eine wirklich tolle Tagung mit vielen schönen Begegnungen und spannenden Vorträgen.

Markus Öhler standing at the lectern of the Audimax of the university of Regensburg.
Last main paper at #SNTS2025 was given by @markusoehler.bsky.social from @univie.ac.at. He delivered, quite successfully, a PR Paper for NT scholars to use inscriptions in their work, by showing how Romans 1:16-17 can be interpreted through looking at lexeme use in inscriptions. Very interesting!!
A very full seminar room at the University of Regensburg. Clarissa Breu Sits in the front, ready to give her paper.
The last short paper I visited at #SNTS2025 was by @clarissabreu.bsky.social, one of my fantastic colleagues at @univie.ac.at. She talked about mockery as we find it in ancient texts and guided us safely through texts of Philo and connected them to the markan passion narrative.
Look, over my tablet on a table into a seminar room, where Helen Bond is presenting.
In today's Seminar session at #SNTS2025, Helen Bond presented on the historical Mary of Nazareth. a perfect fit to my research. It was a wonderful, insightful paper. I can't wait for the book that she will eventually publish on the topic! Also, Helen Bond rocks, but we knew that before of course.
Judith Gundry standing at the lectern in the Audimax of the university of Regensburg.
And we're back for day 4 of #SNTS2025. Judith Gundry is currently presenting her main paper, interpreting 1 Cor 11:16 with us.

Bernadette Brooten standing in front of a very full seminar room, giving her paper.
Completely packed house - to nobody's surprise - for the short paper by the great Bernadette Brooten. She was talking about Romans 1:26 and the question if the acts between females that are described there are homoerotic. - fantastic to hear her present for the first time! #SNTS2025

Today was the women's lunch at the #SNTS2025. A great possibility to connect and talk about support, challenges and successes. - why is it that always right in time for the women's lunch male colleagues will come up and say "well, I just wanted to ask to have lunch together, but I guess not today" 🙄
John van Maaren talking in a seminar room at the University of Regensburg.
Seminar paper 2 in the historical Jesus Seminar at #SNTS2025 was given by John van Maaren from @univie.ac.at. He placed the Gospel of Mark in an almost exclusively Jewish Context and asked what that would mean for our picture of the historical Jesus.
