Ok before I get outside, here’s the #solar42 in self-oscillation. I’m modulating a delay time setting I think. It never got too out of control but it definitely takes over.

This is a super simple patch, VCOA and VCOB only. 2-note arpeggio /16 and variation x1. The VCOA envelope out is modulating the filter and one of the delay parameters. You can change tones by pressing 2 new keys on the keyboard but I only have one hand and one minute. Ha!

Sounds like a beehive in a washing machine.
Soaking wet signal path, modulation on filter envelope and delay time on the effects, very high rate 2-step sequence to VCO1. Everything sluggish and greasy.

And here it is. I found a happy spot by running the internal LFO all the way up at audio rates then increasing the pitch until I found a happy spot that resonates. The other 2 knobs shape the waveforms in more subtle ways. I really, really like these 2 voices.

OK, here’s something a little more musical (more than that other craziness anyway) on the #Solar42 This is kind of how I approach synthesis - figure out what all the things do, then think “oh, ok what if I …?” and find something that appeals. Then turn the knobs and do over.

This is the third patch on the #Solar42 that I’ve patched an Out to an Out and gotten interesting, unanticipated results. This is why we experiment. It’s all low voltage so the risk is low.

I like the Solar42, but it definitely rewards patience. The slowest rate on the pulser is still pretty fast for ambient IMO but it’s clockable so here I’m using the left LFO to gen a slower clock rate. ENV from VCOA is modulating the filter. VCOB to CV on Voice 5.

I’m using a mult to trigger both envelopes from the sequencer gate. I start with all drone voices off then bring them in one by one. Then I go through the mixer section and the filter. I’m using CV out from ENV1 to shape the filter on the left bank. It’s *very* nice.

So, this showed up today. It’s every bit amazing, flexible, capable as I’d hoped. Workflow to get it sounding like this is time consuming but once the oscillators are set it’s beautiful.
