I think Paul Collins said at the most recent #SPSA2024 that much of the work on confirmations are as much Senate research as they are SCOTUS research. Nikki wanted to look directly at how nominees talked about themselves, w/ a hunch that gender mattered in word choice

Build Back Better's modest popularity was mostly but not entirely a product of mixed views on its provisions. The Inflation Reduction Act was more popular.
So I’m working on my #SPSA2024 paper and happened back upon a classic Caldeira (1986) article. This prompts me to remind #SCOTUS of his finding that standing up to Nixon during Watergate led to a major (temporary) gain in public support. Are you listening, Roberts? @judicialwomen.bsky.social
