My favorite talk I went to at #SPSP2024 was by political scientist James Bisbee from Vanderbilt on the cautionary use of large language models as synthetic subjects for political opinion research. We're not there yet, and I bet that's true in other topic areas using LLMs too.

Lab alum Kimi Saadatian presenting on our work examining the racial ideologies of over 20k law enforcement professionals. She finds that law enforcement were MUCH more prejudiced than the general population across 19 prejudice measures (mean d = .79). #SPSP2024
