Lots to take away from #sst2024:
Robin Parry's winsome and lovely presenting style and the good grace he showed me when I asked him a hard question.

The importance of attending to who we are as scholars as well as what we do/know.

Helpful questioning about what if anything prayer achieves/changes other than locating the praying person where she/he already is wrt tradition, God and one another.

Wonderful though-provoking panel discussion last night at #sst2024 on Sin, Prayer and Systematic Theology with Karen Kilby, Lauren Winner and Al McFadyen.
Some pushback on how Evagrius' often used but slightly gnomic quote is misleading.
A reflection on the inevitably rotten nature of our prayers.

Great Plenary paper by Carlton Turner this am, and response from Akeem Adagbada.
Carlton: syncretism has always been a part of Christian experience as it acculturates but this became pejorative in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Syncretism allows us to penetrate superficiality.

Some fascinating questions asked afterwards:
Would we have a NT if not for prisons?

Also I'm not going to be able to hear fantastic-sounding papers from Alex Clare-Young, Rachel Noel and Kay Louise Aldred (because I'm timetabled opposite them all) but they all sound *very* worth hearing. #SST2024
