Lots to take away from #sst2024:
Robin Parry's winsome and lovely presenting style and the good grace he showed me when I asked him a hard question.

The importance of attending to who we are as scholars as well as what we do/know.

The need to step aside and make way.
Carlton Turner's laughter

Since most of the constituency of #SST2024 has not moved away from Twitter/X, it took awhile for someone to alert me that my lovely and greatly missed former colleague @benmfulford.bsky.social live tweeted my plenary paper there, but not here.

Other #sst2024 day 3 highlights were:
A short paper on John Coltrane's Resolution (from A Love Supreme) & Prayer.
A reflection on Stained Glass and its illuminative potential.

A trip to the bookshop:

Great paper this morning at #sst2024 by @alana-m-vincent.net on "Prayer: A Jewish Perspective."
Helpful questioning about what if anything prayer achieves/changes other than locating the praying person where she/he already is wrt tradition, God and one another.

Wonderful though-provoking panel discussion last night at #sst2024 on Sin, Prayer and Systematic Theology with Karen Kilby, Lauren Winner and Al McFadyen.
Some pushback on how Evagrius' often used but slightly gnomic quote is misleading.
A reflection on the inevitably rotten nature of our prayers.

Great Plenary paper by Carlton Turner this am, and response from Akeem Adagbada.
Carlton: syncretism has always been a part of Christian experience as it acculturates but this became pejorative in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Syncretism allows us to penetrate superficiality.

I am. Saw you through the #sst2024 tag. You don't know me but I'm hoping to come to your paper.

Intetesting Plenary at #sst2024 from Lauren Winner on Carceral Saints and Prayer.

Some fascinating questions asked afterwards:
Would we have a NT if not for prisons?
Might the earthquake of Acts 16 be creation joining the song of Paul and Silas?
What do carceral saints tell us about prison?

Off to #sst2024. If you're lucky I might do some posting after the sessions I attend.

Also, if live-tweeting is what we used to do on Tw****r, then what do we on here? Blueskying?

Also I'm not going to be able to hear fantastic-sounding papers from Alex Clare-Young, Rachel Noel and Kay Louise Aldred (because I'm timetabled opposite them all) but they all sound *very* worth hearing. #SST2024

It would help if I got the hashtag right wouldn't it... #SST2024
