The fluffed feathers trap air between them and serves to insulate the bird's body from the cold. American robins have orange chest and belly feathers with white under-tail feathers, grey back feathers, dark grey-black wing and tail feathers, black head feathers with white and black mottled chin feathers, dark eyes surrounded by white eyeliner, orange-yellow beaks, and brown legs and feet.
Me and the robin felt a bit chilly Saturday morning but today will be shorts weather.

A photograph principally of the buds, of an apple tree (I think) shooting in first growth. Some in relative focus, some less so. There is bright light across the scene but the background sky dark and blue (I hope given its BlueSkyMonday) and perhaps more grey reflects an incoming weather front. Beyond the subject are layers of sea, and coastal brush also in low focus. More colours than defined landscape features. Taken at an area designated as a reserve at a site interestingly called ‘Long Rock’ in East Kent.
