Three days at #stsing in Bochum, thanks to the organisers for putting this fantastic conference together! STS' future in Germany is in good hands! And I hope all the smart people without permanent positions that I met will soon be as lucky as I was when I was in their situation!
The picture shows a window view of a rainy landscape from a train. The foreground shows a closed coffee mug, sitting on a small table.
On my way to #BeforeRuins Conference and #stsing GA in Bochum (thx @rustlab). Of course, it just started raining. So let’s have some rain and some rust

We proudly share our Call for Cases for the 2nd #stsing conference, hosted in #Bochum. A case-based format is a way of conferencing that is local, small, and oriented towards the concrete.
Make your case, fit your case, hop on. #sts #sociology #anthropology

Dithered image (80s web style) of the Ruhr Valley campus with the forests in the back. Reduced colours, mostly green, white, black, sprinkles of rusty red. Aiming for a low-carbon conference of sorts

Announcing the 2nd #stsing conference in Bochum. We will have some fun over there, and try to do a few things differently. #sts #lowcarbon
#stshub2025 as a political space for new platforms. For us, and beyond. Darkness, yet…
Engaging discussion after the first plenary
To be continued at the #stsing event, to be continued here (#Mastodon, perhaps #Bluesky)
In Berlin. For the first time since 2003. In between 2003 and 2025 I must have been to Germany thousands of times (I live on the border, this is not an exaggeration), but somehow never made it back to Berlin. #STSinG #STS

Newspaper snippet that celebrated Robotron computers in east Germany. Chips displayed on top, museum style
An old mainframe computer. Like a boring desk but with two nice screens and a colourful keyboard
An old computer that looks like a big switch, lots of cables that were manually managed and were the computing act. A few buttons below
An early personal computer by Robotron. It uses uncommon dark grey colours
As part of #stsleakage, we enjoyed the Robotron selection in #Dresden. Look at these beauties.

We're at #STSinG conference #Leakage at @tudresden.bsky.social today & tomorrow.
Currently listening carefully to the first smart home panel, and learning for our mutual project with @tucmi.bsky.social on the implications of (seemingly) simple sensors. (Thermomix has already been mentioned!)
