Sarix’s scars are all kind of caused by the same event, the fall of his Jedi cohort. In that massacre Sarix is stabbed in the torso and has his arm severed by the very same lightsaber. The stab wound is his first scar. The next one he receives after he’s found to be alive (barely) after the attack. A small group of stormtroopers were based just outside the attack zone for this very purpose. For a time that’s lost to him (could have been days, could have been weeks) Sarix is locked away, beaten and tortured, frankly just for their own amusement. That’s where they get the kind idea to sign their work, leave a wound over that tattoo of his, leave their own mark of theirs for as long as this poor broken Jedi lives. Of course, Sarix does eventually get out, after they reveal they had imprisoned one other Jedi and shot them dead as one last bit of entertainment before attempting the same to Sarix, Sarix finds the rage to break free and violently kill his torturers. Later he is found half dead by a couple of kind strangers, they didn’t have much but they had enough tools and skills to put together at least the basic structure of a robot arm on Sarix. The damage was great though, and they needed to weld an attachment to his upper body in order to connect the arm and keep it in place.

Funny tidbit, when I first created Sarix, he had a whole helmet, then when I was giving him more distinct features on his face I got rid of it, figuring he would just cover some of his face with his cloak. Only recently did I think, maybe a mask would cool and intimidating. Also I’m played the Ghost games over the holidays so I’m guessing that may have influenced my decision. Regardless I dig it
