Hello #EduSky - it's time for my #Saturday3. I have some new followers and I haven't explained this for quite a while so will do it now. Basically, I normally get around to reading everything I have saved on Saturday so I then post 3 edu-things that I really think are worth reading...
It's been another brilliant but maddening week to try and pick a #Saturday3. Early in the week, it became clear that everyone was talking about knowledge and so that became the theme but even then picking 3 of the many blogs and articles proved very difficult.
It’s only Monday and I might have already found 3 pieces and a theme for my #Saturday3…
HI #EduSky - it's time for my #Saturday3 and, again, there has been so much of interest to read this week, especially some fascinating battles over mini-whiteboards and turn and talks. However, in honour of the 20th anniversary of the Rose Review, I decided to focus on reading issues.
Hi #EduSky - it was another bumper week from which I have tried to extract a #Saturday3 of interesting educational blogs. Last week, I featured a blog cautioning about PowerPoint and this week, I feature the more radical approach of ditching it!

Hi #EduSky - it’s time for my #Saturday3 of what I have been reading this week. As it happens, I have mainly been reading about Hansford’s meta-analysis of approaches to reading comprehension but leaving that aside for now, these caught my eye….
1) Although my #Saturday3 is usually the written word, this short video from @blakeharvard.bsky.social caught my eye. The tagline "If there's a way for students to take a shortcut when learning, they'll usually take it" is an important message!

Hi #EduSky and greetings to everyone enjoying @researchedbrum.bsky.social! I would be there if I was in the same time zone.... Anyway, it's time for my #Saturday3 of interesting education blogs / articles I read this week!
Well #EduSky, I am a whole day late with my #Saturday3 because...reasons... but with UK teachers heading back to school tomorrow, I thought this blog on avoiding burnout and thinking about aiming for 80% rather than perfection was very timely. substack.com/inbox/post/1...
Hi #EduSky. My #Saturday3 comes from the airport this week as I wait for a flight. First, it’s @alexjquigley.bsky.social on word consciousness to help with the fact that we can’t explicitly teach kids all the vocabulary they need.

Hi #EduSky - it's time for my #Saturday3 and no real theme this week other than they are all about the nitty-gritty of the classroom. The first one is a short read from the @teachlikeachamp.bsky.social team on how teaching vocab needs to be explicit and implicit.

It’s possible you saw one of my #Saturday3 on the word gap….basically, it exists but the original research way overstated the effect.

Hi #EduSky - it's time for my #Saturday3 and despite seeing many laments for the golden age of EduTwitter, I again find there was a huge amount of quality blogs published this week. So much so that I had to adopt a theme to whittle them down. So welcome to "things not to do" week!
Hi #EduSky - it wws incredibly hard to pick a #Saturday3 this week. I normally save about 5-8 that look interesting to read and this week, I have read 15 or so! Anyway, here were 3 that I particularly enjoyed…
Hi #Edusky - it's time for my #Saturday3 and I thought I would focus on the nitty-gritty of school life this week. First, this thought-provoking piece from @claireharley.bsky.social on whether we do what we say we do...

Hi #EduSky - it's time for my #Saturday3 in what was a fairly fallow week, possibly due to the teachers having the shock of being back in class! However, I happened to read 3 articles all dealing with the theme of the extent to which we can trust research.
Hi #EduSky! I was worried that the Twixmas / early NY period might be a fallow one for blogs but far from it. In fact, some big names have been crazily productive over the holiday period. My #Saturday3 this week follow a theme of education being really hard work.....
Hi #EduSky - it's my last #Saturday3 before Christmas and first up is this fascinating blog on Basil Bernstein by @jonesedu.bsky.social. I have to confess that I had not heard of him but this explains how he anticipated a lot of cogsci and yet was quite different. bsky.app/profile/jone...
Hi #EduSky! I am early with my #Saturday3 this morning whilst my family guests recover from jet lag. First up, is this post from @joel120193.bsky.social on using etymology in science which I meant to include last week. bsky.app/profile/joel...
Hi #EduSky - there's a bit of an international flavour to my #Saturday3 this week. The best thing I read all week was this blog on improving schools through dialogue by US educator @rodjnaquin.bsky.social. A great reminder that top-down CPD isn't what makes real change.

Sorry #Edusky - I got distracted by the "where is the Edu-chat discourse and forgot to post my #Saturday3 until now. It has a bit of a philosophy theme this week which is one of my other passions!
A mixed bag for my #Saturday3 this week. Two blogs by new (to me) bloggers on the minutiae of classroom practice plus an extended think piece that looks at the possibility of AI being able to solve the problem of transmitting the best teaching techniques to future generations.
Hi #Edusky, my #Saturday3 this week starts with @didau.bsky.social's piece on how teachers can avoid the plateau (by being in a good school). daviddidau.substack.com/p/good-schoo...
Hi #Edusky, it's time for my #Saturday3 and the big story this week is the @beckyfrancis.bsky.social led curriculum review. Already lots of ink spilt on social media but really you should read the report itself. FWIW, I think it's a good effort.

Hi #EduSky - it's time for my #Saturday3 and since I am generally bashing levelled readers this week, tale a look at this this useful short guide from @booktrust.org.uk and @openuni-rfp.bsky.social on the importance of encouraging book choice in the classroom.

I will be back with the #Saturday3 later but I really recommend @carlhendrick.substack.com's monthly round-up of interesting research in learning. Always something thought-provoking there!

My first #Saturday3 recommendation this week is a lengthy essay from @dylanpkane.bsky.social on what he sees as the No. 1 issue for public education - motivation. There’s a bonus as well - a link to a wild essay from a parent of a child at Alpha School. #EduSky

With apologies to #EdusSky for this later than usual #Saturday3 starts with this wonderful and detailed blog on the real Vygotsky and how he looks quite different to the one you learned about in teacher training by @carlhendrick.substack.com

Hi #EduSky - it's my #Saturday3 of blogs / articles that have made me think this week. First up, @ruthswailes.bsky.social on the DofE Writing Framework. Although framework has been welcomed, there has been criticism from EYFS practitioners. A good balance from Ruth.

One important thing about Bluesky is that there is no link suppression so your posts with links are treated exactly the same as your posts without links.
This makes it a great place to share blogs etc. I usually catch up on Saturday so plan to share my #Saturday3 favourite blogs / articles. #EduSky
