Right now, Scottish Ministers are deciding if Coul Links will become a golf course.
As well as a globally-protected habitat, these Highland dunes are home to informal paths & the John o' Groats Trail, which up to 7 holes would cross.

Viola palustris is an important foodplant of Dark Green Fritillary in British uplands, cuideachd. The butterfly is usually conspicuous & plentiful on Coul Links in summer, where Viola riviniana is its main foodplant, here nectaring on Common Knapweed.
